Veteran Egyptian actress Ragaa El-Gedawy, whose career spanned over six decades, has passed away due to complications while undergoing treatment for Covid-19. She was 81 years old.
The actress tested positive for the virus in May two days before she wrapped up filming for the TV series Le'bet El Nesyan. She is survived by daughter Amira Hassan Mokhtar.
Until her last days she had received treatment for Coronavirus at the Abu Khalifa Isolation Hospital in Ismailia, Egypt. As her health deteriorated she was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) after she suffered shortness of breath, headache, and circulatory collapse.
Some of her more notable works include El-Wahl (1987), Leh Khaletny Ahebak (2000), Ana Mesh Maahom (2007), and television series such as Azmi and Ashgan (2018) and Halawet El-Donia (2017).
