Twenty years back, between September 26 to October 2, 1998, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has his first brush with the law.
He had gone on a leisure hunt in Jodhpur along with the cast of 'Hum Saath Saath Hai' and was involved in the poaching case.
Over the years, he has been embroiled in many cases and had stints in jail too.
Below are the five times Salman Khan was caught on the wrong side of the law:

1. The Blackbuck case (Kankani)

Salman was accused of poaching two blackbucks in Kankani village in October 1998 when he was shooting for 'Hum Saath Saath Hai'.
The trial court convicted Salman and free the other accused film stars, including Said Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam.
He was in police custody between October 12 to October 16, 1998, and was sentenced to five years imprisonment. He was finally convicted on April 5, 2018.

2.  The Blackbuck case (Mathania)

Multiple cases were filed on Salman Khan in 1998. He was accused of poaching one blackbuck in Mathania on September 28 to 29, 2016.
He spent some time in jail for the case from April 10 to April 13 and between August 26 to August 30, 2007.
The Rajasthan HC acquitted him on July 25, 2016 and the challenge is pending in the Supreme Court.

3. Chinkara case

Another case was filed at Bhawad for poaching two chinkara on September 26 and 27, 2018. The trial court had sentenced him to one-year imprisonment and was finally acquitted on July 25, 2016.
The challenge is pending in the Supreme Court.

4. Arms Act

Khan was accused of possessing 0.22 rifle and 0.32 revolver with expired licenses used to hunt the blackbucks.
The case was again filed on October 1998 and he was acquitted in the case on January 18, 2017.

5. Hit and run case

Four years after the poaching cases, Salman Khan's land cruiser rammed into American Bakery in Bandra. A labourer, sleeping on the pavement, was killed and four others injured in the hit and run case.
In April 2018, a Mumbai court cancelled a bailable arrest warrant against Khan. Earlier, the Maharashtra government had appealed against his acquittal before the Supreme Court.

Legal notice for illegal construction

The Maharashtra forest department has served a notice on Salman Khan and five other members of his family for what it claimed were illegal construction at the Bollywood star's farmhouse at Panvel. The notice was served on June 9 in the name of the actor's father Salim Khan, based on a complaint by a non-resident Indian who also has a property in Panvel.
The actor is currently shooting for his next film 'Bharat' in Abu Dhabi. Pictures from the sets show a well-toned Salman Khan, ready to film his next with Katrina Kaif.
