HE’S GIVEN MANY a newcomer a chance to shine on the big screen. In Salman’s own words, it takes a “lot of hardwork, destiny and luck,” to make it big in the industry. “If someone tells you to go and meet someone, you must. I was not going to meet Sooraj Barjataya for Maine Pyaar Kiya(1989). I was forced to go and meet him. I went there with a bad attitude because they used to make very simple traditional films but when I met them, it changed my life. So never let go of any oppurtunity”. Here we present some tips from the six newcomers who were launched by Salman and Sohail Khan in Jai Ho.

Sana Khan:

Salman Khan spotted Sana in 2012’s reality show Big Boss. Immediately after the show she was signed for Jai Ho. “The fact that I am here shows that the magic of the Big Boss house is working but I also believe destiny plays an important role in a person’s life.” She adds, “My character in the movie has a lot of shades. This girl has a lot of power, money, is very glamorous and wants to show her power wherever she goes”.

Santosh Shukla:

“It was Season 6 of Big Boss where Salman spotted me and I feel so blessed. This was my ultimate dream because as a fan I used to throw coins in theatres while watching Salman Khan movies and today I am sharing screen space with him. Salman and Sohail have loved my work and I will be grateful if I get the same love from the audience. Sohail said that as an actor I am a volcano, I hope I will live up to his words”.

Daisy Shah:

Salman spotted Daisy when she was working as an assistant choreographer. “I was shaken when I was told that I was finalised for Jai Ho.”

Armaan and Amal Malik:

Sohail Khan gave these talented brothers, who are also music director Anu Malik’s nephews, a break with Jai Ho.

Haroon:

The young actor was spotted by Sohail Khan at a gym in the suburbs of Mumbai. “There is no formula to land a role in a Bollywood movie. It just happened with me, I guess I got lucky.”

CT PICK

When City Times met Salman Khan and Daisy Shah ahead of the world premiere of their action drama Jai Ho in Dubai on Wednesday night, both were more than happy to pose with the copy in which their interview featured earlier that week.
