THE WHO'S WHO of UAE's Filipino community gathered for The Filipino Times Awards 2015 in a red carpet event at the Boracay Club, Asiana Hotel in Dubai, to honour exemplary Filipinos. Close to a million Filipinos are based in the UAE.
Among the recipients was Ambassador Grace Relucio Princesa who was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award. A career diplomat of 36 years, Princesa is a staunch supporter of trade and industry and is an advocate of financial literacy through the Pinoy Wise (Worldwide Initiative for Savings Investment and Entrepreneurship) movement.
The much-coveted The Filipino Times' Rizal Award was awarded to Dubai-based designer Michael Cinco. His creations have been worn by celebrities such as Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, and many more.
The awards also rewarded excellence of brands preferred by Filipinos. Nominees were deliberated by judges led by Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, Mohammed Saleh Badri of Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA); Mary Jane Alvero-Al Mahdi, CEO of Geoscience Testing Laboratory, Ken Fortun, project consultant at MyGMA Pay TV Service, Juliet Solas of Latifa Hospital, Lou Parroco, HR director at Canadian Energy Equipment Manufacturing, and Karen Remo, The Filipino Times editor-in-chief.
