Students showcase mobile computing solution through Smart Square Center

DUBAI - Through Zayed University's Smart Square Center, the graduates and students of the university are displaying a new electronic programme in the booth of Gitex 2003 to serve the different businesses in the area.

Tareq Niazi, Director of Smart Square Center, said: "The goal and target of the programme is to save time and effort and raise the efficiency of those employees who have to work outside the offices and depend on mobile laptops. A number of local students from both Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technology have prepared a program during their training period at the center under the supervision of international experts. Smart Square Center is currently connected to cooperation and coordination agreements in the technological field with different ministries and departments in the UAE. The Center strongly urges the training of UAE nationals especially Zayed University who would gain more experiences in the field of information technology, take responsibilities, work under pressure, and support the emiratization plan."

Tareq Niazi indicated that 'Smart Square Center' wishes to achieve fruitful agreements between international expertise and fresh graduates. With the cooperation of IBM experts, the Center builds local skills and invests in human capital, exploits IT investments in the UAE and the region, establishes links between Industry and Academia, and moves to a knowledge economy. It also increases awareness of investments by integrating in projects, skills and capabilities.

Smart Square Center also supports all Arabic language programmes in all its applications and technological innovations. The capabilities and skills of nationals are also stressed upon by providing them with training opportunities in the center which signed a cooperation agreement with Tanmia to provide UAE nationals with the training opportunities.
