Dubai - The light-up bike is custom-made and adapted from the 2010 reboot of the cult classic Tron
Whether you are a fan of the original 1982 Tron movie or its 2010 sequel, it can't be argued that the two movies have left a lasting impact on moviegoers and created legions of fans in their wake.
One of the highlights of both the movies are the Light Cycles battles that take place in the Grid, a virtual reality that exists within the computer's mainframe. The futuristic two-wheeled vehicles resembling motorcycles, which create walls of coloured light, soon became an icon of the films, with many sci-fi fans adding them to their wish lists. Now, for Dh165,000, fans of the movies have a chance to own their very own fully-functioning replica of the futuristic motorcycle from the Tron: Legacy movie.
Available on dubizzle, the light-up bike is custom-made and adapted from the 2010 reboot of the cult classic Tron, where the protagonist rides the high-tech motorcycle inside the digital world that his father designed. A more practical version of the one featured in the film, with front and rear wheels of equal size, the remarkable machine has only ever been ridden once and has a direct drive electric motor with lithium batteries, a computer-controlled digital electronic transmission and a low seat height of just 28.5 inches with suspension and hydraulic brakes.
"People literally stop in their tracks when they see the iconic motorcycle from fantasy as a tangible reality. I am very excited to find the replica a new home and hope to see it going down Sheikh Zayed Road one day," said the seller, Ebrahim Ostovar.
Osman Bhurgri, product marketing manager of motors for dubizzle, said: "The UAE is known as a hub for exotic and limited edition cars. Last year, pop culture and marvel enthusiasts perked up at the Batmobile replica that was on sale on dubizzle for Dh3.5 million. Now, the Tron motorcycle is one for the science fiction fans, demonstrating the truly sensational automotive finds available on the platform."
