Deshpande claimed two wickets and gave away 35 runs in his four-over spell as Chennai, who made 167 for nine, restricted Punjab to 139 for nine
Mammootty’s newest film, Praise the Lord, now playing at theatres in the UAE, has opened to mixed reviews in Kerala. Directed by Shibu Gangadharan and based on a novelette by noted writer Zachariah, the film also stars Reenu Mathews, Mukesh (pictured) and Kalabhavan Shajon.
Mammootty plays a rich planter, who is hardly exposed to the outside world. His life takes a turn when a young couple, who have defied their parents and eloped, comes to stay with his family. He now discovers the world of ‘lovers’ with marvel-filled eyes.
Very soon, reality sinks in and the young couple, with little in common, discover that being in love is far-removed from the utopian notions celebrated in cinemas and books.
Zachariah’s work is a biting commentary on society on many levels, while the film has taken flak for not delivering an outstanding work of art. But for those who like a breezy time, with Mammootty in his usual form, Praise the Lord might be worth a trip to the theatres.
