A senior official of India Social Centre, Al Ain told Khaleej Times Nithin Padmanabhan aged 26 was found dead in the abandoned car by police following a report filed by his friends after he went missing since Wednesday.

“His friends tried calling him but without any response. This worried them so they went to the police and registered a report on Friday. Police after taking the details, launched a search for him, and finally found him dead in a car parked in front of a warehouse in an isolated area on Saturday,” he said.

He further added, the dead was first discovered by an Asian pick-up driver who came to the warehouse to pick up a cargo but his way was blocked by the victim’s rented car. “The driver went to the car to ask the driver to move the car, but found no one on the driver seat. He saw Padmanabhan lying dead on the passenger seat next to the driver. The pick-up driver also felt bad smell and immediately reported the matter to the police,” he added.

Padmanabhan had just returned from his hometown of Sultanbattery, Kerala, where his parents, younger brother and other family members are in a state of shock after hearing the tragic news.

The social centre official further explained the young victim has got his driving license about two to three months ago and wanted to rent a car but was not able to get one, so he sought a friend’s help who got him a rented car.

He rented the car on Tuesday and was last seen with some friends at night on the same day. After hearing no news of him from Tuesday night, his friends on Friday went to Madina Police Station and lodged a report about his missing.

Police also questioned Padmanabhan’s friends and colleagues and released them later.

India Social Centre is already contact with the family back home and is following up the case so the body could be repatriated at the earliest.

“The family is in a state of shock, and they want his body sent home as soon as possible. From our end we are trying our best and waiting for the completion of the official procedures and will repatriate the body as soon as the paper works and investigations are over,” he added.
