The construction work was inspected yesterday by Shaikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning. After the finishing touches, the market will be opened soon.

Al Nuaimi spoke to fishermen in old fish markets and urged them to participate in the management of the new initiative.

Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of the Ajman Municipality, said that the new fish market project has a modern design and includes an administrative block and wholesale and retail markets.

The wholesale market will comprise several blocks consisting of more than 40 stalls. Each shop in the market will be provided with two parking lots. Centralised refrigerators and warehouses have also been set up in this section.

He added that there would be a rest area for truck drivers, a cafeteria, residential quarters for workers, a mosque, garbage collection areas, police station, restaurants and an administrative section.

A parking lot outside the market is now fully operational.
