Women's college drive to boost students' IT skill

DUBAI - The Dubai Women's College (DWC) is working closely with key industry players like Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, National Bank of Dubai, Dubai Ports and Customs, in an instrumental programme aimed at accelerating students' learning by placing them in real-life IT projects.

Khalid Al Massrey, Senior Software Engineer and Ismail Al Mazmi, programmer, demonstrating the security system at Dubai Airport, showed the latest security systems used by them, which interfaces their databases with those of the Central Intelligence Department and Dubai Police to create an advanced security infrastructure.

Dr Behjat Al Yousuf, IT Supervisor at DWC, commented: "The project based on learning approach is used in colleges and encourages students to learn not just the methodologies and techniques of systems design and development but also the management of these projects in a professional and effective manner."
