VP attends 30th anniversary of Al Bayan
DUBAI - Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) on Monday marked the 30th anniversary of Al Bayan, the local Arabic language daily here, at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Shaikh Mohammed inaugurated Al Bayan Photo Exhibition. He was flanked by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Chairman of DMI, other Shaikhs and high-ranking officials.
The exhibition included old and new photos on the activities and occasions witnessed by the UAE in economic, sports, cultural and urban fields since the era of the country’s founding fathers.
Shaikh Mohammed expressed his admiration of the photos, as an archive recording the events for successive generations.
He congratulated the Al Bayan family on the occasion, pledging unlimited support to the media and mediapersons. He also watched a documentary film about the progress of Al Bayan, which came out with its first copy on May 10, 1980.
Ahmed Abdullah Al Shaikh, Board Member and General Manager of DMI, welcomed Shaikh Mohammed and the guests.
He narrated the story of development of Al Bayan, which he described as a ‘beacon of opinions, dialogue and thinking’, adding that it has been carrying news with honesty and impartiality for over the last three decades.
