Acting on a tip-off, a team of municipality inspectors raided the factory and found that five tonnes of food including bakery products were being prepared in unhygienic conditions.

The food was being stored in the toilets. A few workers fled the premises during the raid.

Salim Obaid Al Mamri, Head of the Health Section of the Ajman Municipality, said the workers were also caught pasting forged labels on food packets for selling them in the emirates.

Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of the Ajman Municipality, said, “The municipality will never tolerate those who are trying to pose danger to public health. Maintaining a hygienic environment for the public to prevent them from contracting any disease is one of our priorities.”

“The Health Section and the Central Laboratory for Food and Environment are making great efforts to ensure food safety and a cleaner environment for the public in the emirate,” the Ajman Municipality official said.
