UAE-Egyptian Joint Committee holds 1st meeting

ABU DHABI: The UAE-Egyptian Higher Committee has held its first preparatory meeting at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abu Dhabi.

The meeting was chaired by Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Affairs of the UAE and Ambassador Mohammed Abbas, Director of Arab-African Cooperation Department at the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation.

In the opening remarks, Al Ghaith expressed hopes that the Committee’s meetings would further contribute to stronger relations between the UAE and Egypt.

He hailed the UAE-Egyptian close ties under the leadership of The President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Hosni Mubarak.

Ambassador Abbas said the meeting confirms a keen interest by the two countries to further promote relations and cooperation.

The 2-day preparatory meeting will discuss agreements and memoranda of understanding that could be signed by the two sides.

The first meeting of the UAE-Egyptian Higher Committee is scheduled in next January in the UAE.
