Transport Corporation unveils taxi reservation data

DUBAI — The Reservation and Distribution Department of the Public Transport Corporation at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has received 198, 485 phone calls during the month of July, and the total number of taxi reservations processed has amounted to 112, 996, according to latest statistics.

The statistics presented by the Public Transport Corporation at the RTA unveiled that out of 112, 996 taxi reservations processed, 42, 193 reservations were made via the IVR system and 31 reservations through the Public Devices (Dh paid).

The director of the Dubai Taxi Department at the Public Transport Corporation, Ammar Bin Tamim, said: "The Corporation has successfully managed to reduce the reach time of taxis to end customers from 15 to 12 minutes, while it has taken an average of 12 seconds to reply to incoming calls."

He added that the Al Sufooh Area — Zone 53, distinguished by such landmarks as Emirates Hills, Emirates Lakes, Marina Towers, various 5-star Hotels and Emirates Golf Club, has topped the list of areas with the highest request for taxis (26, 861 reservations made), followed by the Al Garhoud area Number 22, which has a number of residential compounds, witnessing 15, 337 reservations. The Mirdef Area, which has a number of residential and tourist compounds, witnessed 10, 293 reservations while the Umm Suqaim Area 1, also having a host of residential compounds, witnessed 8, 283 reservations. The number of reservations is on the rise in the Al Tawar Area Numbers 1, 2 and 3 (6, 542 reservations) while the Al Barsha Area Nunber 52 registered 6, 391 reservations. Jebel Ali had 5, 332 reservations, Al Qusais Areas 1, 2 and 3 4, 618 reservations and the Al Safa area 1, 2 and 3 witnessed 4, 612 reservations. The Umm Suqaim Area Number 2 and 3 with its multi-residential suburbs had 4, 379 reservations.
