Speeding Main Cause of 
Traffic Infringements

ABU DHABI — Over 50 per cent of the traffic fines issued in Abu Dhabi in the last three months were related to speeding, according Abu Dhabi
Police officials.

Colonel Khamees Ishaq, Deputy Director of Traffic Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, said that 56 per centof the total of 244,927 traffic violations recorded from January 1 to April 5, weredue to speeding by motorists. He added that 19,535 fines were issued for parking in banned areas, 14,988 for disturbing the flow of traffic, 8,134 for not using seat belts, 6,664 for not following lane discipline, 5,502 for parking on the pavement, 1,937 for jumping red signals, 3,090 for using mobile phones while driving, 1,843 for crossing at non-designated areas, 2,636 for double parking and 3,184 for parking in spaces marked for fire hydrants and for those with special needs.
