Rajiv Bhatia has been living in the UAE after an eight-year stint in Stockholm. Indian by birth, he has visited more than 50 countries as part of his work and vacation pursuits and loves the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Dubai. Bhatia works as the Head of EMEA Sales for Mobile Financial Services at Ericsson, driving the financial inclusion and digital banking agenda. He believes the work-life balance paradigm is a thing of the past; in the digital age it's all about striking the perfect work-live blend. This is his take on deriving inspiration and creativity from the best around UAE.

Golf

Golf is a big part of the #mydubai experience. The availability of world class courses and almost yearlong possibility to play makes this one of my favourite ways to spend time outdoors. The game instils patience, perseverance and precision in your mindset. Spending hours amidst quiet, pristine landscapes takes care of any urban lifestyle fatigue. I've made great business relationships playing golf with peers and experienced complete holiday-like enjoyment by squeezing in a few hours of golf in an otherwise hectic business trip.

Coffee

Sipping a nicely crafted coffee in the Dubai winter sun can probably be one of the most relaxing ways to stock up on much-needed vitamin D. My love for good coffee started during my years living in Scandinavia. The Swedes are one of highest per capita coffee consumers in the world - the average supermarket in Stockholm stocks a constant supply of really high quality coffees with a variety of roasts. This summer, I spent time in London with one of the top three coffee roasters in the world to learn the secret skills. coffee consumption for me will never be the same again.

Bollywood

Growing up in India I was never a big fan of rushing to catch the latest Bollywood potboiler. Surprisingly, living in Dubai has brought in a new found excitement to always catch the latest Bollywood release. It's not just a more mature industry, it's more to do with Dubai offering a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself upfront and close into the full Bollywood experience - the food, the culture and the fantastic diaspora of the subcontinent.

Yoga

One of the healthiest habits I profess to have: 60 minutes of yoga. It's a double bonus and incentive for me that the yoga classes I attend are held at the Emirates Golf Club with an opportunity for classes to be held outdoors during the good weather. With frequent business travel, you can do yoga everyday, in every hotel room, anywhere in the world. I crave this time for moments of stillness, strengthening the body and the overall sense of calm one manages to achieve.

Books

Like many people, I've taken the journey of migrating from books to e-books but unlike many I have dutifully returned to the pleasure of enjoying the feel of holding a nice paperback. Dubai has rekindled in me the joy of reading, whether sitting on my balcony with a good book and coffee over the weekend or in a foreign hotel room or a long intercontinental flight. A good book transports you away from the immediate surroundings and has the potential to spark the imagination and inspire. Most recently, I've enjoyed reading Peter Thiel's From Zero to One to get some of the latest on entrepreneurial thinking and across the spectrum, reading Khalil Hosseini.

Nature

Many overseas friends ask me if I miss being surrounded by nature, the picture in their mind obviously being the highrise concrete towers of Downtown and Dubai Marina. What most people miss is that with the desert, the sea and the surrounding hills, the UAE offers great opportunity to participate in the outdoors. I plan to learn how to navigate the dunes and experience some winter caravan camping. I have been out scuba diving in the seas around UAE and Oman and look forward to some more water sports including sailing.
