Schools reopen on September 3

DUBAI — The new academic year for 2005-06 will begin on August 27 for the teaching staff and management of schools and actual classes for students will begin from September 3, an order issued by Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education, on the new academic calendar, has said.

The re-exam for students who failed to get through the first final exam of the General Secondary School Certificate would be held on September 4.

The mid-year vacation for the next academic year will be from January 14 to 27, while the annual holidays will begin on June 28, 2006. The teaching staff and management will report for duty on August 26, and classes will begin in September 2006. According to the new schedule, there will be 14 official holidays in the next academic year — 12 in the first semester and two days in the second semester.
