Traffic on Al Dhaid Road was interrupted as vehicles had to slow down because of water logging yesterday morning. Many parking lots in Sharjah were also submerged in water. Pools of muddy water blocked the entrances to many residential and commercial buildings in Ajman, forcing residents to stay indoors..
Speaking to Khaleej Times, an official from the public works section at Sharjah Municipality said, "We will review the problems caused due to heavy rains to come up with a permanent solution. However, workers are draining the water that has blocked the main roads connecting the various districts of the emirate. The Municipality's Emergency Section's staff, responding to public complaints, have pumped water from streets using sewerage water trucks.”
Saif Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of Ajman Municipality said that employees of the Works Section have been assigned to remove the rain water from the roundabouts. According to him, they are working around the clock to clear the water and mud which has blocked most of the drainage networks in the area. "Workers are now focussing on removing the mud and water that is blocking the entrance to many buildings here," he added.
