Problems Issuing e-passports Solved

ABU DHABI - The Somali Embassy in Abu Dhabi has said that the problems faced initially in issuing new e-passports have been solved.

The Somali governmenthas been replacing all old passports with e-passports since 2007.

Speaking to Khaleej Times recently, Hussein Mohamed, charge d’ affaires, Somali Embassy, said e-passports take more time to be issued, though initial problems for issuing them have been sorted out to a great extend.

The e-passport system has been in place since 2007 and it is for all. The expired old passports are replaced with e-passports by the embassy and the consulate-general in Dubai.

He declined to divulgethe number of e-passports issued by the embassy so far.
