“To encourage people to use public transport and reduce traffic blues, we are also considering a dedicated lane for buses. The buses will be guided by the Global Positioning System and will travel on a certain speed,” said Eng Mahdi Ali.

Facilities in the new buses include comfortable seats, low floor, enough legroom, ramps for wheel chairs/prams, external LCD displays for destination, security cameras, announcement system by the driver, etc.

Eng Ali also said that out of the total 1,500 air-conditioned bus stops, 225 would be in place by June this year adding that 371 drivers had been hired for the new buses and were undergoing training.
