Pedestrian killed in road accident

ABU DHABI - Forty-five-year-old Mohammed Alem Mohammed Yassin, a Bangladeshi national, died yesterday when he was hit by a car on Salam Street here. Three other men were injured in the accident which occurred at around 9am at the junction of Salam Street and Morror Road near Abu Dhabi Municipality.

The car allegedly jumped the red signal and hit the man who was crossing the road.

The body was taken to the Central Hospital.

A Pakistani man who was injured in the accident, was discharged from the hospital after initial treatment.

Two other Pakistanis were admitted to Khalifa Hospital and one of them was in a serious condition, police said.

Meanwhile, a Civil Defence report said four people were killed and 49 suffered injuries in accidents in different parts of the country during Eid holidays.

According to the report, seven people were hurt in a fire.
