The six courses program will take place in Abu Dhabi and will last for two years, starting from November 2010, in cooperation with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), a German political foundation.

Director General of NMC, HE Ibrahim Al Abed said that this training program aims to support young qualified nationals in the field of journalism and help them assume their responsibilities in the vital media sector in the UAE and benefit from international expertise specialized in this field.

Al Abed pointed out that this program comes as part of the efforts made by the council through Tawteen Committee in media sector, chaired by H.E Ahmed Ali Al Balushi, Board Member of the NMC.

On his part, Thomas Birringer, Resident Representative of KAS in the region welcomed the cooperation between KAS and the NMC and said that the first session is scheduled to begin before the end of this year, and that all lectures are to be given by two lecturers, an Emirati and a German.

The sessions include a program that focuses on cultural interaction in this project, whereas the NMC and KAS offer a practical period in Germany, at the end of the training program, where ten Arab and German journalists would work together for ten days.

It should be mentioned that KAS owns 16 local offices in Germany and manages over 200 projects in more than 120 countries. In June last year it launched new regional project ‘Gulf-States’ with its office situated in Abu Dhabi.
