Mohammad Al Zaabi, head of the committee and Director of the International Relations at the ministry, said yesterday the MoL had considered bylaws submitted by 10 companies for the approval of the ministry.

The ministry has recently announced that all the firms in the country should have bylaws of penalties and the same should be communicated to all employees.

The committee refused to approve some of the bylaws as they were not in conformity with the labour laws of the country.

“These firms took bylaws’ from companies operating in other countries. These bylaws were not suitable for the work conditions in the UAE. Some of the bylaws were completely contradictory to the labour law in the UAE,” Al Zaabi said. The ministry has directed the firms to rewrite their bylaws in accordance with the UAE labour law. He warned that firms which have no bylaws would face penalties.
