Logitech Tablet keyboard

I’M VERY PICKY when it comes to keyboards. I mean, I’m very particular about what I like and don’t like. My favourite keyboard of all time remains the heavy Apple Extended II keyboard with real, mechanical keys.

If you’re a tablet owner, Logitech makes the Tablet Keyboard in models for Android and for iPad. I tested the iPad model, which also, it turns out, works fine with Android. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 paired with the keyboard and I’m actually typing most of this article that way. Some of the key configuration is non-standard but after a little while it wasn’t of any hindrance to me when typing. So the typing experience is good and the keyboard has function keys for common commands.

However, the stand that comes with the keyboard is not very convenient to set up and take apart if you move around a lot (which is the idea of having a tablet, right?). Also, the keyboard and the case together are rather heavy and bulky, which further defeats the purpose of the portability of a tablet.

For iPad owners Apple’s own Bluetooth keyboard is a better choice. If you don’t like the Apple keyboard or want to save a bit of money, the Logitech Tablet Keyboard may suffice. I would however say that Logitech’s Keyboard Case is for most users a better choice as it’s a keyboard and case in one piece. The Tablet Keyboard has its faults and it’s not very portable but at $60 it offers decent value for money.
