Jailed for taking drugs

DUBAI — The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced Issa Kh, a UAE national, to four-year imprisonment on charges of consuming drugs, and ordered confiscation of hashish found in his car.

According to the case history, the Anti-Narcotic Department received a tip-off that the accused, who lives in Al Rashidya area, was addicted to narcotics.

Police raided the house but did not find any narcotics substance. However, a search of Issa's car revealed traces of hashish. He was arrested and his urine sample was sent to the laboratory for testing, which turned out to be positive.

The police referred the case to the Public Prosecution, where the accused confessed to being an addict, besides stating that he already had two cases against him. Subsequently, he was produced before court, which sentenced him to four years in jail.
