The games were confiscated during the recent inspections carried out by the Market Control Section of the Consumer Protection Department of Sharjah Municipality. The raids were carried out at different markets and stores in Sharjah.

The move follows a spate of complaints from parents about some games that contain abusive language and indecent acts, said Fahad Ali Shuhail, Director of the Consumer Protection Department at Sharjah Municipality.

Ali Shuhail said the municipality, in its earlier campaigns, had seized 450 types of such games which are played on paper, and are in three languages. The municipality had also warned against promoting/selling such games, he added.

Ali Shuhail said the civic body would continue to carry out surprise inspections at commercial centres.
