State Department spokesman says Washington backs a deal to halt the fighting and free hostages
The app, which is freely downloadable, contains selected poems from his collection along with details of his published books and literary events.
It was launched at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2011 held at Sharjah Expo Centre by Michael Rothenberg, renowned American poet and songwriter. Dubbed as ‘app for the eye within’, iJaihoon is the first of its kind from an Indian poet to enter the world of smartphones and tablets.
“The Sharjah International Book Fair, being the literary powerhouse of the region, is the most suitable venue to unveil the launch of my poetic app,” said Jaihoon, whose literary career has seen six books so far, most of them being an anthology of his poems and two travelogues. Jaihoon, known for his tech-savy innovations, early last year, he published Mission Nizamuddin, world’s first Twitter-based travelogue.
Launching the literary app, Rothenberg expressed hope that endeavours such as iJaihoon will pave the way for other writers to explore and exploit the paradigm shift in the habits of book lovers. The Florida-based literary activist is also the editor and publisher of the online literary magazine Big Bridge, www.bigbridge.org. Currently, iJaihoon is available for Android phones and will shortly be available for Apple-based gadgets. — afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
