A school that started functioning last year also made it to the ‘good’ grade.

Like last academic year, no school was found ‘outstanding’ by the Dubai School Inspection Bureau (DSIB).

While three Indian schools were deemed unsatisfactory out of 21 schools, two out of three Pakistani schools were deemed unsatisfactory.

Of the 21 Indian schools, none received the ‘outstanding’ status. Eleven schools received a ‘good’ rating and seven received the ‘acceptable’ status.

Among the three Pakistani schools, only one managed to receive the ‘acceptable’ status, as the other two were adjudged unsatisfactory.

“There is still much to be done and the progress needs to continue in these schools. The schools have to meet the expectations of parents and students,” said Jameela Al Muhairiri, Chief of DSIB, at the announcement of the report.

The extensive annual report provides an overview of the standard of education in the Indian and Pakistani schools.

With 35,583 students studying in ‘good’ category Indian schools, the number of students receiving better education has increased in comparison to the 24,294 students in good schools last year.

Some of the weaknesses identified in the Indian schools include the poor Arabic language skills among students, over dependence on textbooks and limited information-communication technology (ICT) resources in schools.

Similarly, in the Pakistani schools, ‘weak governance’ and ‘unsatisfactory teaching, learning and leadership’ were identified as areas of concern.

The Indian and Pakistani schools were inspected earlier than other curricula schools as the new academic begins in April for these schools. The inspection results of other schools will be announced in May.
