Emiratisation Drive Gathers Momentum
ABU DHABI - The UAE Cabinet on Sunday directed the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAGHR) to prepare an integrated plan for emiratising federal jobs. It signals the intent to have more Emirati nationals in federal jobs and giving preference to Emirati nationals.
The directive follows discussion on FAGHR’s analysis of human resources in the public sector, part of a government initiative, which recommended the development of a detailed administrative and financial plan for the emiratisation of federal entities.
Chairing the Cabinet meeting, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said he was satisfied with the high proportion of female employees, 53 per cent of the national staff in the government sector, reflecting the leadership’s will to provide equal opportunities in the field of education and training.
The Cabinet members — among them Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan — approved a number of appointments and promotions at the federal government.
Approval was also given to the reconstitution of the Federal Electricity & Water Authority, under the chairmanship of the Energy Minister, and a new membership of 10 UAE nationals with adequate qualifications and expertise.
They also approved the closing accounts of the National Media Council ratified two agreements between the UAE and Vietnam on promoting investments and avoidance of double taxation, and sanctioned the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC countries and Singapore.
