Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations will be deployed at all government departments across the country, residential compounds, and car rest areas, Khaleej Times has learnt. The ministry of infrastructure de-velopment on Wednesday unveiled a promising project for constructing EV charging stations in all residential compounds, projects, and vehicles rest areas.
"These will not only cut the vehicle operating costs by 90 per cent but also boost our green economy and sustainable development," said Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.
The ministry is the first federal entity to adopt EV charging stations in its projects that fall un-der the initiatives of the President and the Shaikh Zayed housing pro-gramme. "We are committed to make these stations an inevitable part of our modern infrastructure in line with the UAE 2021Vision."Eng Dhaen AlMheiri, Chief In-novation Officer, of the ministry, said they have already built four charging stations in the ministry HQ in Dubai and northern emirates.
