The court amended a judgement by a lower court, which ordered the Emirati to pay a fine of Dh6,000 plus the confiscation of the firearm and live bullets found in his possession for being accused of injuring himself by triggering the pistol.

The appellate court reduced the fine to Dh1,000 on charge of possessing the pistol without obtaining a prior permit from the authorities and having live ammunition (pistol bullets).

The court upheld lower court ruling on confiscation of the firearm and other seized items.

Earlier, the Dibba Hospital received the man in a bad health condition right after he got a gunshot in his body.

The hospital authorities reported the police about the occurrence.
