The two alleged conmen had convinced an Arab that a Nigerian national had died leaving behind great wealth which they needed to transfer to an account in the UAE. They asked the victim to give them money to help them process the transfer in his account. After he sent them some money, they called him again from inside the country and asked him for more money. However, after sending them an amount for the second time, the Arab man discovered that he had been cheated by the Nigerians.
The police declined to reveal the amount of money that the victim had given to the conmen.
Brig. Sultan Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of Ajman Police, said the Ajman Police launched an investigation in coordination with Sharjah Police to track down the conmen. The joint CID team laid a trap and arrested the duo in Sharjah.
Brig. Al Nuaimi, urged the public to be cautious and not to believe the swindlers' stories. He also called on Ajman residents to notify the police if they come across such cases.
