The strategy, unveiled yesterday, also envisages the hopes and aspirations of this young nation which, in a short span of time, has propelled itself into the ranks of highly-developed countries and is highly motivated and determined to reach the pinnacle of human development.

The UAE Government Strategy, announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is a master plan that underlines the vision and foresight of the rulers and re-emphasises their unwavering and steadfast ambition to provide wholesome support for their people and ensure a high quality of living and harmony within this oasis of peace.

Announcing the strategy, Shaikh Mohammed said that the strategy had been developed in line with the vision of The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the National Programme he launched in December 2005.

The strategy’s objectives, he said, concurred with those of the National Programme that focuses on achieving sustainable and balanced development and a high quality of life for all UAE citizens. The drive towards ultra modernity, while maintaining the nation’s traditional and cultural heritage, has been the hallmark of the spectacular progress which the UAE has achieved.

Today, the country is a melting pot of cultures where people of many nationalities live and work in peaceful surroundings, enjoying a standard of life that is comparable to the best in the advanced world.

While economic progress continues at a rapid pace in the country, the strategy focuses on adopting best practices in all key sectors of governance and also ensuring closer cooperation between the federal and local governments. This, clearly, is the key to achieving sustainable growth and prosperity for nationals as well as expatriates residing in the country.

Raising the bar

The UAE has always set firm goals for itself, and also raised the bar now and then, as it aims to promote its regional and international profile — something that already has become the envy of many nations that have a longer history. ith its vast and sophisticated infrastructure, the UAE is looked upon as a model state where workflow is streamlined, and life is comfortable and hassle-free.

The strategy is sure to provide new impetus to development in all fields of human endeavour in the country.
