Speaking to Khaleej Times, Ali Al Hamrani, Director of Ajman Municipality, said that the municipality is making efforts to enhance its various services to cope with the rapid development of the emirate. It also took several practical steps to contribute to improving the transportation and reducing the congestion on the roads, especially those leading to Sharjah and Dubai, he said, adding that the bus service is intended to dissuade the use of private cars on the roads of Ajman and achieve lower emissions and noise levels, besides promoting sustainable transport.

He pointed out that the new service will be officially launched in Ajman before the end of this year. The bus line project has received much support from organisations and local industry in the emirate, he added.

“We also hope that this first bus project will be one of a number of projects in the coming years. The residents living in Ajman and its rural parts need to access a responsive, flexible service that meets their needs,” he added.

Shareef Al Ajouz, a resident of Ajman, said that he was so much satisfied to see that one of the municipality's long pending promise is at last fulfilled.

"The official is of the opinion that after establishing of this bus route, a number of advantages would occur in the emirate, which can serve as an important conduit for trade and business between other emirates," he said.

“It will not only benefit residents of Ajman and Dubai economically, but will also build up a good relation between the two emirates,” he observed.

Fawzia Makki, a resident of Ajman who trades between the two emirates, said: “I can't believe that I will be able to save the fare of the taxi that I take twice a week to go to Murshid Souq in order to buy the goods that I sell in Ajman. I would like to thank Ajman Municipality and Dubai Transport Corporation as well as other supporters of this project for providing the services,” she added.

Shaikh Mohammed Amman Allah, who usually travels to Dubai by taxi, said: “This service gives an essential benefit to the residents of Ajman who might otherwise be cut off from the activities and life in other emirates. We are delighted to have this important service which will take people to the town-centre of Dubai, which has become the business hub in the region,” he said.

Abdulla Mohammed described the project as a wonderful idea that will help most of the limited-income people living in Ajman and working in Dubai and will ease the traffic congestion in the emirate by reducing the number of the cars in the street.

Rasheed Khalil, who works in Ajman and lives in Dubai appreciated the efforts of the municipality in taking this step to ease the people's commuting problem and help them save time and transportation expenses.

“I will personally benefit a great deal from the services as I take a taxi from Ajman to Rolla in Sharjah and from there take a shared taxi to Dubai. Since in Dubai, the taxi drops me at a place far away from my destination, I have to take a bus or taxi to reach my destination. Now this new service will directly take me to my destination in Dubai,” he said.

Ahmed Ali, an Ajman resident, has a different opinion. He said that the idea is good for the people who travel daily between Ajman and Sharjah, but it's not beneficial for those working in Dubai and having their own car, because if they use the public bus, instead of their own cars, they will be affected in terms of the time of travel.

Aziz Khan said the service will make his life easy and help him do many things that he couldn't do earlier due to the "unaffordable" transportation expenses.

Mohammed Qurtobah said that the people living around Ajman city do not need this bus service, as for that the bus stop should be moved to the place where there is a high concentration of people working in Dubai. He urged the officials of the municipality to increase the number of buses on Thursdays and Fridays as more people usually go to the race course in Jebel Ali and Nad Al Sheba on weekends.
