As the lights at the Sharjah International Book Fair (2016) went off, the weird and wonderful Addams Family appeared on a stage, which took the audiences straight to the original 1960s sitcom.
The beloved characters appeared and did a great job of portraying the antics and eccentricities of one of the world's strangest families! In a perfect marriage of music, lyrics and top-quality performances, both the young and the young at heart were treated to a pleasing display of sophisticated comedy dipped in dark humour.
The abandoned castle and life inside it, depicting daily life or a big birthday celebration spent in pulling pranks on party guests, was strung together in well-choreographed scenes that left the audiences cheering for the brilliant actors through the play's various scenes and acts.
The Al Rawan Art Centre for Art and Theatre Production from Kuwait brought the story alive in Arabic, which made the Arabic speaking audiences able to relate to what was originally an American concept played out within their own cultural context.
