The Abu Dhabi Police aims to educate as many as 90,000 workers on the dangers of drugs and its harms through a series of lectures in 2018 as part of its strategic plan to eradicate this evil.
Colonel Tahir Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, director of the Anti-narcotic Directorate, said: "The lectures will focus on defining what narcotics are, the dangerous and harmful effects of drugs, their negative effects on society, the characteristics and attributes of addicts - how to identify a drug addict, ways to deal with them and how to report them to the concerned authorities.
On Sunday, 500 workers from the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) benefited from the first educational lectures organized by the Directorate in cooperation with the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones in Abu Dhabi.
Lt. Col. Mohammad Al Mansouri, Director of the Department of Police Follow-up and Care, stressed the dangers of drugs, emphasizing the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police to raise awareness about addiction in the community, thus strengthening preventive measures and protecting them against the negative effects of narcotics.
