A three-year-old Emirati girl sustained critical injuries, mainly brain haemorrhage, following a road accident in Ras Al Khaimah.
The little girl was travelling in the car driven by her mother when the accident took place at the Seeh Al Barirat area, according to RAK Police sources.
The car crashed into a local government vehicle, which was reversing on the road where the mother just entered from a U-turn.
"The Central Operations Room of the RAK Police was alerted of the accident late on Sunday, following which traffic patrols, an ambulance and paramedics rushed to the site."
The mother escaped without injuries, they said, adding that the little girl was in bad condition and was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Saqr Hospital."
"The accident was blamed on the mother who failed to estimate the right space to pass."
Medical sources with the Ras Al Khaimah Medical Zone said the girl was subjected to CT scan to examine the status of her brain.
"The girl, in critical condition, is still in the intensive care unit," they said, noting that consultant doctors with the Shaikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital were asked for help to examine and diagnose the little girl's condition."
Police sources urged all motorists to observe traffic rules and regulations, particularly speed limit.
