There is no dearth of bizarre products on offer online, but a Los Angeles-based startup has gone a step further by selling used tissues infected with snot. Named Vaev Tissue, the company's launched the product that will work as vaccination against flu.
As unbelievable as it may sound, the used tissues are already sold out online claimed the world's "boldest tissue company" in a tweet. But it's not the bizarre product that is raising eyebrows, its ridiculously high price at $79.99 (Dh293 approx), has left online buyers shocked. The company wrote in October last year on Twitter: 'Due to overwhelming demand, our VaevTissue is currently sold out, but we're restocking November 1st'!
According to the company's website, the product is engineered in such a way that it first allows a person to get sick on "their own terms" and then prevent oneself from the disease, similar to how vaccinations work. "We believe using a tissue that carries a human sneeze is safer than needles or pills. This isn't like any tissue you've used before, but we love using them, and you will too," read a line on the company website.
The company's 34-year-old founder, Oliver Niessen, was quoted as saying in Time, "The simple idea is you choose now to get sick, with the idea in mind that you won't get sick with that same cold . later," reported Indian Express.
In spite of being sold out online, it seems the product has left many disgusted on social media. Surprisingly, some online buyers have also inquired about the return policy of the 'used' product. One person tweeted: 'Just heard about your product, and I'm curious. Can a used product be returned for a full refund, or does it double in value upon use'?
