Two people got injured in an anti-terror court in Karachi as a police constable gave a practical demonstration of how a grenade works. While the court room was shaken, it threw the judge off his seat. The hand of the constable was seriously injured.
According to the media reports, the incident happened during the trial of a man accused of having carried out several grenade blasts. The accused is allegedly a gangster and an extortionist.
During the trial, the judge asked the constable to describe as to how a grenade works.
"Police constable Liaquat was presenting the detonator of the hand grenade which had been recovered from the suspect before the ATC-III judge as evidence," said a court staffer who witnessed the incident.
Liaquat pulled the pin out of the detonator to show the judge how it works, making it explode.  The grenade's detonator was thought to have been defused, police official was quoted having said.
