The death toll in a suicide attack believed to be carried out by a teenager at a shrine in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province has risen to 12, authorities said on Friday and stepped up security across the country after the incident.
Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said that the explosion occurred moments before a gathering was about to begin.
Bugti said that six children between 10 and 12 years old were among the dead. About 12 people were also injured in the blast.
Local administration official Muhammad Waseem said that the suspected suicide bomber appeared to be about 18 years old.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack. The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned the blast.
Police have set up extra checkpoints and imposed restrictions on movement in some areas.
