According to Al Watan newspaper, one of the escapees is Ridha Al Ghassra who was being tried in several terror cases, including a car blast near the Bahrain Financial Harbour in March 2013. This was not his first escape as he also ran away in 2012 and was rearrested last year.

Bahrain’s assistant undersecretary of legal affairs said in a statement that Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the escape. He ordered the transfer of the director of Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre who handles the central prison (Jaw Prison) to the Public Security Presidency and assigned an officer to handle management operations. He also ordered the directorate to be moved under the supervision of the Interior Ministry undersecretary.
