Faced with a gigantic task of building a new capital city, Andhra Pradesh has decided to first opt for an "interim government complex" to serve as a temporary administrative seat at Velagapudi village in the coastal district Guntur district.
The temporary Secretary, which will have offices of the all key departments being shifted from Hyderabad, will be spread over 45 acres, the officials said. Plans are on to shift the state secretariat from Hyderabad by June this year.
Though the initial plan was to construct the buildings to locate temporary Secretariat over an area of 20 acres, the government has finally decided to increase the extent of the complex to 45 acres to fulfil the administrative requirements, a government order said. "In the 45 acres, the interim government complex would be located in 27 acres and 18 acres would be left for public facilities," the order said.
