Hyderabad — The death toll in rain-related deaths in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rose to 14 on Tuesday with nine fishermen from Kakinada in south coastal Andhra drowning in the rough sea while returning to the shore.
The tragedy in high seas came to light when Vadamuduru Kotaiah, a 64-year-old fisherman returned home late on Monday. The lone survivor was part of a group of eight fishermen who had ventured into the sea for fishing.
According to information provided by him, the seven others, residents of Pagadalapeta, Jagannadhapuram and Yanam slipped from the boat in the middle of the sea and were drowned. Two other fishermen from Parlopeta and Uppalanka also drowned in the sea.
