I absolutely loved your cinnamon and honey skin remedy! It really helped me in the past. However, someone told me recently that using honey on pimples in the summer will leave black spots, and that it is better to use plain yoghurt on the face, as this is just as effective, if not better. Could you clarify if this is true, or can I continue to use cinnamon and honey without it leaving behind black spots? - Name withheld
Thank you for writing in and I’m happy that the treatment worked for you. Your assumption about honey being unsafe to use during the summer is not true. However, if you still have doubts, substitute honey with aloe vera, low fat yoghurt, or tomato juice. Any of these can be mixed with cinnamon exactly the way you did with the honey and cinnamon mask.

I am a 13-year-old girl. A month ago, I went to a water park and got tanned, despite using sunscreen. Can you suggest a remedy to help me get back my natural skin tone? - Gayathri
Always remember to wear an effective sunscreen when you go out in the sun. To get rid of your tan, use a raw papaya mask twice a day.

I’m a 16-year-old girl suffering from severe hair fall. I maintain a healthy diet and apply oil to my hair regularly, but nothing seems to be working. My scalp is oily and I also have dandruff, which appears within a day of washing my hair. I have tried other home remedies for dandruff, but there was no noticeable improvement. I used to have long, thick and silky hair, but now it’s just a quarter of what it used to be. Please suggest a remedy to get rid of the dandruff and get voluminous hair again. - Muskan
Ensure that you brush your hair thorough-ly when dry. Make a scalp treatment by mixing two tbsps of aloe vera gel, 12 drops of tea tree oil and nine drops of rosemary oil. Massage this mixture onto your scalp and leave on overnight. Rinse and shampoo the next day. Repeat this at least three times a week. To treat the oiliness, rinse your hair after you shampoo with some tea and lemon water. Do not wash it off, but leave on your scalp to dry.

My toenails have turned a blackish hue due to use of nail colour. How can I get them to look pinkish again? - Veena
File your nails using an emery board, not a steel file. Add two capfuls of vinegar to some cold water and soak your feet in the water. If you do not want to soak your feet, soak cotton pads in vinegar diluted with cold water, and wrap your nails in the pads. Do this every day until you start to notice your nails return to their natural, healthy state.

I am a 21-year-old woman with dark circles and hair loss around my forehead. My hair is thinning quite rapidly. Can you please suggest a simple remedy for my hair and dark circles? - Name withheld
Dark circles around the eyes can be treated with tea bags. Use a couple of tea bags as eye pads twice a day. For your scalp, massage fresh green pumpkin juice onto the affected area. Leave this on for at least two hours and rinse (but don’t shampoo). Make sure that the scalp is clean before applying the juice. Do this three times a week to curb thinning, and improve hair growth.
