TheScore
This one may be just another sports news app, but it's also 'the only sports app you need for real-time coverage from Rio 2016,' as the app claims. It's not an exaggeration either. Olympic fans are bound to love its easy-to-use interface and customisable updates. So, not only do you get real-time scores and news, you can also personalise your feed by selecting those teams you want to follow. The notifications will ensure you never miss a play, news story or even an injury ever again.
Rio 2016
If you're looking for a simple app that will keep you up-to-date, there's nothing like this year's official Rio app. Available in a variety of languages such as English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Mandarin, you can stay in the loop with real-time updates, medal counts, notifications on your fave teams and athletes, as well as videos. The real time updates, however, which open a separate news browser, can be a tad irksome.
Olympic Athletes' Hub 2016
If you're a true fanboy (or fangirl) find out exactly how your favourite athletes are doing in Rio with this app. Designed to be a social network of sorts for competing athletes, it also allows the public to sign up, so you can see Rio through their eyes, share health and training tips and stay up to date with the Olympics in general.
The Olympics - Official App
This one is for those who are more interested in the Olympics in general. Not only does it have all the usual features (coverage, medal counts and news stories), it dishes out tidbits of knowledge on all the Games ever held. You can relive moments of past glory, search for information on Olympic medalists' history and get the schedule of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. However, it takes quite a bit of time to load and can lag quite a bit.
