In case you haven't already caught on, this year is not looking good for global markets. Now, more than ever, is the time to make sure you're saving for that coming-soon rainy day. But with all the expenses in a pricey city like Dubai, saving can sometimes take a backseat. With these apps, that shouldn't be the case.

Built and developed locally, this is a great app that not only lets you track your expenses, but also helps you devise a savings plan. Using your phone's camera, you can scan receipts - the app is geo-aware, so it will tag the receipts according to the places they're from - and find out exactly when and where you need to cut down. It also helps you plan for things like school fees payments or loans. Best, of all, it's free!
Spending Tracker
Super easy to use, simple to set up and very efficient at tracking your expenses, this app will help you plan a budget and stick to it. It is part of a suite of apps (some are paid apps) but Spending Tracker and My Budgets from developer MH Riley are both free and neatly break down your monthly expenses into charts and graphs, so you know exactly how much of your budget pie you have left. A great way to start planning your expenses!

It doesn't get more local than this. If you really want to find out how much money goes towards groceries and on which products you can save a lot of money on, then this government app is the answer. Compare prices of products - everything from baby products to tea - across the various stores and supermarkets in Dubai, and find out where you can get your shopping list the cheapest (Note: not all the prices are listed).
Saving Made Simple
A savings calculator combined with an easy expense tracker to make saving money, well, as the name suggests, simple! Just enter a savings plan, like "saving for a rainy day" and the app does the rest, showing you exactly how much you need to set aside. Savings plans are split into daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly required amounts, and you can set up widgets to track your progress! So start saving and planning for a more financially secure future!
