I am a 16-year-old girl. I apply Vaseline on my lips to keep them smooth but, after a while, white patches start appearing on my lips and look very unsightly. I also have a birth mole on my face, which is now showing signs of tiny hair growth. I can't tell for sure, but it may even be increasing in size. What is the best way to get rid of it? Can you advise natural remedies for these problems? - Name withheld
Glycerine diluted with water makes for a good lip balm. An even better option is to use clarified butter (ghee) or organic coconut oil to keep your lips soft and smooth. Moles, however, must be tackled by dermatologists. Please get help from a well-reputed expert for this problem and do not attempt to tackle it on your own.

I am 24 years old and have pimple marks all over my face. I'm getting married next month, and wish to get rid of these ugly scars before the big day. Please help me! - Sanjidah
Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for your problem - but you can start using a mask of tomato purée, mixed with 1 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of egg white. Apply daily - or, at least, twice a week - and rinse after an hour. All the best!

For the last two years, I've been suffering from acne on my cheeks and forehead. The acne is almost gone now but it has left behind brownish spots on my face. My hair has also been damaged due to the hard water we use here. Please suggest remedies made by using items available in grocery stores. - Name withheld
One of the best things about natural home remedies is that there are several ways to get the same results - all with ingredients that are readily available. For your acne marks, pat 1 tsp of tomato juice on the affected areas and leave on for an hour or overnight. Alternatively, beat an egg white until frothy. Add 1 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of cornflour to the mix; apply the mask on your face. For your hair, massage yoghurt into the scalp and rinse after an hour. Use a mild shampoo and rinse hair with a tumbler of water with 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar added to it and allow this to dry into the hair. Again, an alternative is to massage a mix of 1 tbsp of yoghurt, 1 tsp of honey and a few drops of tea tree oil into your hair. Rinse after two hours. Do this twice a week for best results.

My hair tends to smell a bit, even a couple of days after I shampoo it. Do you know why this is happening and what I can do to do away with the smell? - Ayesha
A sweaty scalp may be causing this odour. Dust cornflour on a hairbrush and run it through your hair. Leave on overnight. Brush through and dust off the next day. Doing this every alternate day will help. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the water you use for the final rinse after shampooing, to help remove any odour and leave behind a clean smell.

I have a medium complexion but a dark neck. What can I do for an even skin tone? - Geetika
Mix 1 tsp of almond powder with coconut milk and apply this mask to your neck. Scrub off when dry, and do this thrice a week for best results.
