Indian sweets such as jalebi, ras malai and gulab jamun are popular all over the world, but nothing beats the fanfare that the humble kulfi draws. The traditional cold dessert is sold by kulfiwalas in large earthenware pots (matkas) covered usually in a maroon cloth in India. The vendors sell these kulfis on a stick or in a terracotta cup in the form of falooda.
Bringing this authentic taste to town is Banarasi Kulfi, a part of Satrang Foods LLC. The outlet was launched last year and offers the finest premium quality ingredients that are a feast for your taste buds. It has already become a big hit with sweet lovers in the city and is located conveniently as a kiosk outside Saleem's of Delhi and Pind Da Dhaba restaurants in Karama, situated opposite the Dubai Frame.
The outlet boasts of some of the most delightful kulfi recipes in town. It has recreated the classic creaminess offered back home and offers the natural goodness of India's best dessert on a stick.
The recipes are 100 per cent milk based and use real fresh fruit pulps and purees. But what makes this dessert more appealing than the rest is that it has no preservatives or food colouring added, making sure you enjoy the real taste! Furthermore, the outlet is recognised by HACCP so you can be assured of its quality.
The outlet also does catering for events and is sure to be the go to place, as with the temperatures rising, tucking into a kulfi is the best way to get the much-needed respite from the heat. Plus, their authentic set up with colourful decorations and Indian matkas makes it stand out from the crowd.
The menu has a variety of different delicious flavours that include chocolate, kesar pista, kiwi, coconut, mango, paan, red berry, rose, pink guava, malai and passion fruit. Paan, pink guava and malai are some of the bestsellers here as a bite into these is filled with nostalgia of the flavours back home. The fruity kulfi's are popular as well as they offer the actual refreshing taste of the fruit. The outlet also serves a mouth-watering kulfi falooda topped with tasty nuts. All the flavours are priced at Dh13.
Another factor that adds to its charm is that the outlet is located bang opposite the Dubai Frame, the city's latest attraction. So, head here, bite into a luscious kulfi and soak in the breath-taking views of Dubai, for a memorable evening out!
