I don't have kids, so I really have no idea what goes on - from the parenting perspective - when schools (didn't Pink Floyd sing something along the lines of "We don't need no education"?) re-open their portals after a long summer gap. I vaguely remember the times when I was on the other side, and I had to trudge back to school after an awesome vacation at some hill station or sea resort. But to be honest, once the initial ice was broken, it wasn't so bad: swapping stories with school friends, sharing tiffins and, er, getting back to the grind in the syllabus scheme of things. and, of course, looking forward to the next break. These days, kids have a lot more to look forward to: new clothes, accessories, gadgets, the list goes on. It's like a brand new chapter in their lives - so I'm guessing that kind of takes the brunt off the hateful thought of going back to school. For parents, however, the entire reorientation process can be quite the challenge, I hear. This week, we spoke to a few parents and heard it from the horses' mouths. A real education.
Bollywood is revving up to deliver some much-anticipated packages in the coming half of the year. Special mention for the clash of the titans: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period piece Bajirao Mastani (that promises to be an eye candy fest if anything - starring all the yummies: Deepika, Priyanka and, hold your breath, Ranveer Singh) takes on Dilwale that brings back Shah Rukh in the company of Kajol. Can hardly wait... Get the teaser details from our Bollywood column. Also read about a couple of enterprising guys who have teamed up to start a business of delivering food to your doorstep - a la the dabbawallahs of Mumbai; but the critical difference here is that they are serving up Paleo food. For those of us who thought it would be a pain to stick to a Paleo diet, this could be the perfect solution.
In Travel, take a tour of the gorgeous city of Cape Town. Pursuits investigates the Germanic roots of the British royal family - yes, you read that right. Kitchen Classics gives you a class in making 'tiffin-time' grub for your kids, as they grapple with the new term.
All this and much more.
Enjoy reading wknd. and have a great weekend!
