We have to be intelligent to use AI, says Seedorf
Former Real Madrid star Michel Salgado, who was the moderator in final session titled 'Sports academies and technology', agreed with Seedorf
Dutch football legend Clarence Seedorf praised Fifa for introducing the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to minimise human errors in football.
Speaking on the final day of the Dubai Artificial Intelligence in Sports Conference, Seedorf also said artificial intelligence could prolong players' careers.
"I have always been in favour of the goal-line technology because there is a limit to which human eyes can see. So it was a great decision by Fifa to introduce VAR. It has definitely improved the game," Seedorf said.
"Also, I believe we have to be intelligent to use artificial intelligence in future. It will help players enjoy long careers."
Former Real Madrid star Michel Salgado, who was the moderator in final session titled 'Sports academies and technology', agreed with Seedorf.
"There was a time when every Monday there were debates about unfair decisions by referees in all restaurants in Spain. But now you see only one controversial decision a week. So VAR has definitely helped," Salgado said.
Meanwhile, Yana Klochkova, the four-time Olympic gold medal-winning Ukrainian swimmer, said AI will help identify young talent.
"I am very happy that Dubai is hosting this conference on such an important topic. I believe artificial intelligence will improve the quality of training. In academies, it will also help identify the young talents," she said.
